What
is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complete system
of treatment which can help you to fight off illness by stimulating the body’s own natural healing process. Treatment
with homeopathy can alleviate distressing symptoms and treat conditions which would normally be treated with drugs e.g. antihistamines,
antibiotics, bronchodilators and steroid creams.
What
will treatment be like?
A homeopath will not need to
make a physical examination but will need to obtain as much information about you and how your symptoms affect you physically
and emotionally. Your personality and how you react to certain situations help the homeopath to understand you as a person
and this is important when deciding on the right remedy for you.
What
are the remedies?
Remedies are obtained from a
number of sources, such as Pulsatilla (an anemone flower), Sepia (a sea creature) or Sulphur (a mineral). The remedy is usually given in
small tablet form and allowed to dissolve in the mouth.
What
will happen when I take a remedy?
You may notice some changes: for
some there will be an immediate improvement in energy; there may be a rash; old symptoms may reappear for a short time. These
symptoms are part of the healing process and should not be treated. It is worth discussing any changes with your homeopath.
How
long will treatment take?
Generally if your illness is
one that you have had for a long time then it will take more treatments before your symptoms are clear. If it is an acute
or recent condition then it is likely that you will respond more quickly.
